Sir Lord Baltimore- Kingdom Come (1970)
While Black Sabbath is unanimously credited with the creation of Heavy Metal, and Led Zeppelin claim to have nothing to do with "that noise", there are some bands of the era that are often skipped over. Sir Lord Baltimore successfully mix the bluesy guitar riffs of Led Zeppelin II with the urgency of MC5. A 1971 review of this record contained the first documented use of the term "heavy metal" to refer to a style of music.
Every time I've ever played this for anyone, they've said "holy fuck, this is great! why have i never heard this?"
ReplyDeletewasn't a steppenwolf review the first documented use of "heavy metal" though?
